These are a few of the baby quilts I've made in the past few years for friends & family. Baby quilts are by far the most fun to make & they are soooo loved. Thats why I keep making more........
Here's a sneak peek at the progress on the 2nd quilt. Just finished a few of the Lassie quilt blocks . I tried to choose some brighter colors than what the original pattern called for. I like to put my own spin on things & the colors will go along much better with the Lad quilt , since they are going to be for twins.
I just hope to finish the rest of them if my machine holds out. It has broken twice already..... I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I actually wore a gouge in a gear that combines the threads ... didn't know that was possible..... It's only about 4 years old..... I had great luck with this Necchi Machine until now.....Repairman said it will break again & I will have to order some new parts, I know it will not ever sew the same again
Sooooooo.....
I am going new machine hunting tomorrow just in case I can't get parts
Well I finally got the prairie points on it. T hat was a first for me. They were a little more of a challenge to place them right. After a few redoes I got it right. All thats left is to quilt it.
I hope to get that going soon.
I have already started cutting out the applique for the Lassie quilt. that one should go much quicker a lot less piecing to do.
I came across this jungle print last week and just had to get it . My daughter's room is done in animal print and since she really could use a new bed quilt. Well I just couldn't pass it up.
Haven't gotten as far as figuring out what pattern I'll use for the quilt yet but that will come with time. It would be nice to have it done by her wedding in September.
Just when I thought I was all caught up..... there will always be a new quilt to make....
The Lad Quilt Top
In Progress
I'm in the process of making three baby quilts at the moment. The top to the 1st one is just about ready. The design is the Lads & Lassie's quilt by Karen DuMont. The puppies & snails are so cute.
I'm working on the Lad quilt first . There is a lot more piecing and applique on the Lad than the Lassie quilt. I Like to get the hard stuff out of the way first. They are for set of twins one boy one girl that are due in September.
I remember when I wouldn't even think about trying any quilt with applique, now I enjoy the challenge.
I'll be adding some prairie points to it next to give it the finished look ... a sneek peek coming soon....
I am the mother of three & grandmother of 5 girls.
I love to sew, it's my favorite pastime. Quilting is a great stress reducer. It's also a great hobby on those long cold Northern Michigan winter days. I also like to read and spend time with my grandkids.
